Kate and Judi's Fantastic Adventure
October 2008
We are entering a new phase at JRRanch. We are going to be doing a lot more travelling and have cut back to 2 breeding bitches Kate and Judi. Sadie will also join us for as long as she wants. We will document their travels throughout the country as often as we can so friends and family will know what we are up to. Here are some recent pictures of the girls.
Here is Sadie and Mrs JRRanch at the US Nationals. Sadie is our first JR and she is almost 15. Mrs JRRanch is much younger but they are both pretty gimpy. Sadie has logged thousands of miles in the motorhome (New Mexico, New Brunswick, Alberta, Maryland so far this year) sitting on Sandra's lap. This is Kate. She can be cheeky at times. She is a Taz & Tobias pup just over a year old. We will be breeding her in the spring to get summer pups when we are back on the farm. Her Mom had a beautiful litter with Rivet so that may be the way to go.Kate has her eye on something in the field. This is Judi. She is great great grand daughter of Bristle who was our foundation bitch for many years. Her first litter with Tobias was very good so we may repeat that this year. Judi flashing those big brown eyes.Judi showing off her exquisite form.Kate playing in the leaves.

Kate and Judi traveled in their cottage (Big Bertha)
for 3 days and arrived at Valdosta Georgia. They spent a couple of rainy days there recharging from their trip.
Then they drove to Cocoa Florida to visit with their buddy Liz. Liz has a beautiful property and K&J had trouble tearing themselves away. Spent several days and took these pictures. Thanks a million to Liz and Eddie for putting up with us.
Finally got some warm weather and our old girl Sadie just loved the heat.
Traveled a bit North to Saint Augustine and will stay here for about a week. Looks like lots of history to see here so expect to take more pictures of K&J exploring the sites.

The boardwalk across the dunes to the beach. Here is the map of Matanzas beach. The girls hit the beach for the first time. Here is Kate's dash to the water. The next 4 pictures are in quick sequence as a wave rolls in. Judi holds back. Kate runs ahead. The wave rolls in and Kate loves it. Judi is trying to get all her feet off the ground. The water hits Mrs Jrranch but not Judi as she has already retreated.Kate wades out of the water to see what Judi and the Mrs are getting excited about.Kate says "come on in the water's fine". Judi says "no way this princess is getting her feet wet".Now for some tourist shots.Only people on the beach was a couple of fishermen.

Kate & Judi took a little drive down scenic A1A today. The interesting part starts at Saint Augustine and goes to Flagler Beach.
This was the coldest day but it was over 60F when we got to the beach around 10AM. Mrs JRRanch still has her heavy shirt on but it wasn't really necessary. Waterproof shoes would be more important as you can see in the pictures and captions.
Kate was really into the new situation and would have run right into the water if we let her off her leash. Judi on the other hand was very reserved and this princess was not about to get her feet wet.
There is a sequence of 5 pictures where the girls rush to the water and then meet a wave where all but Judi get their feet wet.
Kate wants to go back to the beach and Judi will go along reluctantly.

Here are all the kids and Mrs JRRanch sitting next to the car after a long walk on the beach. We got soaked by several waves and Katey loved it.A wider view to show how uncrowded the beach is.Here is Kate showing off her beach nose.At the shoreline the beach is very colourful. There is an overlay of small pieces of broken coquina shells giving it the darker colour.

These pictures are for Cayla who said she loves beach pictures.
Kate & Judi wanted to get back to the beach and since it was about 80F today and looks like rain tomorrow we said OK.
We found a neat road to the beach which allows you to drive right onto the beach. Gives new meaning to the term beach access. The sign said you need 4 wheel drive but they probably don't have experience driving in snow.
Once again, the beach was almost deserted with a few fishermen and a few dog walkers like us.

Kate and Judi back home for Christmas. They don't seem to mind the drastic change in temperature as much as we do. They loved the chance to run freely again on the farm and they played for hours in the newly fallen snow.
We will be pretty busy getting ready for Christmas and visiting but hope to get some shots of the girls around the tree.
Managed to get all 4 dogs to stand still for a second. Kate, Judi, Omen and our original old girl Sadie all dressed up for ChristmasOmen loves to dress up and show off. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Kate and Judi back in Florida.
Sadie, our original 15 year old JR, is fading a bit but still loves to travel so she gets to come along until she decides its her time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Omen, a recent retiree, is also with us for the winter. He is enjoying his time in the sun very much but is still seeking the right home to retire to.
Kate wanted to get to the beach right away and Judi reluctently went along.
Kate and Sadie loved the water but Judi and Omen wanted nothing to do with it.

This one's for you Fred. Drove around here today but didn't go into the Hall of Fame. They wanted to charge me the price for quality time here when all I wanted was a quickie. Anyway, here's the picture to prove I was there.
This place is huge, with many golf courses and hundreds of homes and condos spread over thousands of acres.
Weather is fine. Watching the Curling Skins game on TSN right now as I type this.
Judi posing nicely for the judgeKate being bated by Mrs JRRanchMrs JRRanch receiving Kates first prize ribbon while Kate checks out the cute boys outside the ring. Here's the results of the first day. They repeated their successes the next day under a different judge so it wasn't a fluke.Judi is a little bored by it all and would rather be doing racing.
January 17-18, 2000
Kate and Judi went to a Trial in Florida this weekend and bothe did very well. Both won their sections each day. Kate went on each day to win second best in show. Quite an accomplishment for out little princess. Here are some pictures of the girls teaching Mrs JRRanch how to strut their stuff.
January 17-18, 2009
While Kate and Judi did their conformation Omen spent his time at go-to-ground and Lure coursing. This was a neat course around a small pond and Omen really loved it. The first run he completed very well but the second run wasn't completed. Omen decided at the far end of the course to take off and do some hunting. He had a great time and won a prize for his run as a veteran.
We gave Omen a buzz cut at the trial and he really loves it. Will get some pictures of him soon because he looks like a new man.
Great view from the motorhome. The motorhome is just right of the pier. The obligatory sunset shotKate and Judi watching the sun go down.

Kate and Judi arrived at the HoHum campground near Carrabelle Florida. To the Grandkids: you will find it in the Atlas on the Gulf just south of Tallahassee Florida. If you Google it you can see the campground from the satellite view.
We parked about 1 foot from the beach right next to the pier. Kate and Judi love walking on the pier so the first pics are from there.
Omen's new buzz cut.He loves the new cool feeling. The kids and Granny looking for shells. This is serious business. This is the Sand Dollar prize for finding Alligator Point on Google. This is Omen and Sadie, helping Granny find shells. Some shell pictures.A whole mess of shellsDo you know what this is called and can you pronounce its name?Trails in the sand. Yesterday Kate and Judi took a trip to St. George Island but Grumpy left his camera at the RV so no pictures. It was a nice drive onto a remote island which has a 4.5 mile bridge.
Today we went to Alligator Point because we heard there was good shelling there. These are the pictures of that trip.
Contest for the Grand Kids: First one to find Alligator point on Google wins the excellent Sand Dollar Granny found there. You should also be able to find St. George Island  about 50 miles to the south.
We have decided to stay here for 2 weeks before heading out to visit friends in Missississippippi.
Promised pictures of Omen's new haircut so the first 2 pictures are of him on the dashboard. Kira and Tamarra asked for pictures of the motorhome on the beach so these will show how close we are to the ocean.
Cayla, you would love the beaches here with lots of shells to find. Trenton, take care of your broken foot and don't break any more casts.
