Tickle had her first litter early this morning. She had 3 girls and 1 boy. This picture was taken about an hour after the last one was born. Will get more pictures of the pups soon. Tickle is very protective and gets upset when we touch her pups. In a few hours she will have had her rest and we will be able to handle her pups without causing her too much stress.
Well, it wasn't until the next day that Tickle let us handle her pups. The boy is on the left and all the rest are girls. The smaller girl on the right is tan like mom and the rest are tri coloured. Tickle is still very protective and a great mom.
Here they are at 6 days. They are growing fast. They are all around 14oz today, doubling their birth weight. Mom's hormone's have settled down, we no longer have the bitch from hell, we have our little Tickle back.
These pictures were taken April 22/04. They have their eyes open but don't have their hearing yet. The boy is on the left. These kids sleep most of the time now but they are about a week away from mayham.
Tickle's pups are just starting to eat solid food. Pictures taken April 28/04. They are starting with a mixture of yogurt and pablum to get their stomachs used to solid food and we will gradually switch to ground up puppy food and water. The picture on the left is our typical aerial view from the JRRanch blimp. In the next picture I caught our little panda with stuff on his nose, and finally they are done and ready for a nap.
Pictures taken May 4/'04. They are on their regular visit to the kitchen pen. They last about 10 minutes before they start to tire and want back in their whelping pen. Little Panda at left is very vocal about what he wants. He is really funny. He lets out his howl then snorts as he breathes back in. It will be real interesting when we can put all the recently born puppies together. That won't happen for another week when they are fully weaned from mom.
Pictures taken May 7/04 of the Tickle and Emmylou litters together for the first time. More pictures on Emmylou pup page. After introductions were complete, they played pretty hard for about 30 minutes and then they crashed. The tan girl tired herself out pulling her ducky around. The girl on the right wasn't interested in sleeping with the rest of the kids. She wanted to sleep with her new toy.
The kids on their first walk May 10/04. At first they stay pretty close to Mrs JRRanch but pretty soon they are running around as seen in the 2nd picture. Thats uncle Pete leading a bunch of pups back to the pack. He comes on all the walks with new pups and helps train them to come when called. We just call Petey and all the pups follow him to us.
